FACULTY OF COMPUTING & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Centre for Systems Modelling and Visual Analytics
PURPOSE
Integrating System Dynamics and Visual Analytics is a promising area of research and professional practice for qualitative description, exploration and analysis of complex systems in terms of their processes, information analytics, organisational boundary and feedback structure. This facilitates computer-based quantitative modelling and analysis for the design of the system structure and control. The centre will organise regular Seminars and will expose researchers to an assortment of application domains that use Systems Visual Analytics as a problem solving methodology.
Centre’s Research Focus
The Centre's research programmes are primarily on the notion that System Modelling plays an enabling role in the exploration and expectation of systems' behaviour. The development of these "systems as models" and "models as systems" is at CASMS's core, which is still an emerging discipline of decision science as well as other more traditional areas of software systems engineering. In recognising this, CASE supports several generic and enabling research themes within a broad 'umbrella' rationale of Data Analytic & Visualisation Research Laboratory and Cyber Security Research laboratory. The centre organises quarterly regional seminars for PhD researchers and annual workshops.
